Until I watched the SAG awards, I had no idea the grand scope that Betty White’s career has spanned. I grew up falling in love with her as Rose on the Golden Girls and have enjoyed her ever since. But what I DIDN’T know were the decades she spent before that carving out her career. Paving the way not only for women, but women in comedy. Finding ways to showcase her various talents(including her beautiful voice as she sang “Someone to Watch Over Me”), being fearless in the pursuit of comedy, and humbly gracious for all the success that followed. Betty forged ahead with style and grace, working to make it in the crazy business that is Hollywood. And becoming known for who she is. I also didn’t know of her humanitarian efforts with animals. What a beautiful woman, inside and out. Touching, thoughtful, talented. Her humor and spirit is truly evident in everything she is and does.
So thank you, Betty White. Thank you for your inspiration to us all and the perspiration you used to get there. You make St. Olaf proud. Bravo!
